Since the existence of the game of football, women have also been playing this game. So women football supporters can be found in very corners of the world. Today, the supporters of women football have increased in comparison to earlier days. The first FIFA Women’s World Cup which held in 1991 and this Women’s World Cup itself is great event for women football supporters. This event usually draws great attention for women football. With the growth of women football as well as women football supporters, the Women’s United Soccer Association League was established in year 2001 in United States. We can say that this association was just a response to the increasing interest in women’s football in the United States. Though the league collapsed in 2003 yet the roots of the game of football was not affected at all. So it was again re-launched in year 2009 as Women’s Professional Soccer. However, semi-professional W-League continues operating with thirty eight teams, as of 2006.

Moreover, women’s league of Japan i.e. the L-League is also well supported by the people. It has also been revealed the FIFA Women’s Club World Cup is to be held in 2010. However, the dates have not been fixed yet. Sources have also revealed that in a meeting at the headquarters of FIFA, a Women's Football Commission approved the holding of the first Women's Club World Cup in Brazil in the city of Santos. Women's football faced many struggles throughout its fight for right. Today, the women football has gained much attention as compared to earlier time and is quite popular amongst the people.
