EURO 2008 & the FSI/FARE Fans' Embassy Programme

At EURO 2008, the FSI core group once again actively supported the organisation of the widely independent information, advise and support services offered to travelling football supporters during the time of the competition in joint responsibility with Fairplay-vidc from Austria, which also runs the coordination office of the FARE (Football Against Racism in Europe) network.

The entire hospitality programme offered to visiting supporters was organised and carried out with financial backing and support both from UEFA and the governments of both host coutries.

At Euro 2008 there were

  • fans' embassies run by fan project workers and/or fans themselves in every host city as well as
  • fan miles and
  • big screens and fan festivals in several non-host cities
  • fan guide material in various languages

On top of that,

  • international mobile fans' embassy teams from eight participating countries were in Austria and Switzerland offering info and advise services targeted specifically at the respective supporters from their country of origin.
