Activities

The newly appointed FSI Steering Committee will soon work out a comprehensive agenda for future activities of the FSI network.

This agenda will be based on the excellent results elaborated in the workshops of the 1st European Football Fans' Congress 2008 (EFFC) in London. These results can be found in the EFFC Report.

Also, there are several campaigns carried out by our network members, partners and associated groups that FSI is supporting as well. >>read more

FSI has also joined FARE and other fans' initatives across Europe in their efforts to draw attention to the case of the anti-racist activist and Marseille supporter Santos Mirasierra and call for your support:

Open letter of support for Mr Santos Mirasierra

Mr. Santos Mirasierra has been detained in Madrid since 01/10/2008 after the football game between Atletico Madrid and Olympique Marseille.

Various members of the FSI network across Europe and our partners from the network Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) have been working together with the supporters of Olympique Marseille for many years now, and Mr. Santos Mirasierra is known to us and them as one of the leading figures in the organisation of projects and initiatives against racism and discrimination both in Marseille and internationally.

On top of this, Mr. Mirasierra AND the members of his fans’ group at Olympique de Marseille have indeed been proactively promoting plenty of other activities aimed at REDUCING and PREVENTING the recurrence of violent incidents in and around football over many years now.

We have no reason to doubt that Mr. Mirasierra’s commitment on these social issues has always been outstanding, with him and his group taking part and providing vital support to the FARE Action Weeks and FARE’s international festival “Mondiali Antirazzisti” as well as to various other activities on issues of diversity and international understanding.

Furthemore, the FSI network would also like to draw attention to, and condemn, all other episodes documented in the Vicente Calderon stadium before and during the game, including the alleged racist incidents, the violence and disproportionate policing and treatment of the French fans.

On this basis, the FSI network sent a letter respectfully encouraging the Spanish authorities to reconsider Mr. Mirasierra’s position and release him from prison.

We call all our friends, fans’ groups and organisations to support this initiative by signing this letter – contact us and we’ll add your name to the signatures below.
